Human-Centered Design Specialist

Hello visitor! I’m Brian, I strongly believe in Human-Centered Design when it comes to instructional design and research, my work centers on one question:

How do people learn, and how do we design experiences that support that?

My experience has led me to conduct research in educational organizations and video game environments.

During my doctoral studies I conducted several formal studies investigating the role of video games and education. My goal was to explore my passion and disseminate how it could be used to promote collaborative learning and spark new interests.

After my PhD, I joined the Siebel Center for Design as a postdoctoral fellow and K12 Lead to work with a variety of educational institutions to promote Human-Centered Design Integration.

Across all of it, my process stays the same: understand the people first, design with them in mind, test, and iterate. Whether it’s conducting user research, or designing curriculum I believe Human-Centered Design plays an important role in successful implementations.

Outside of work, I lead a 400+ member guild in Final Fantasy XIV. It turns out surveys and interviews are just as useful for running a community as they are for research.
